The route

It had been some noise again at the night, but all in all I had better sleep. The sun came out, too. I managed to dry my towel and the tent in the morning sun and off we went. It was a familiar road to Suwalki. I did some shopping at the mall I already had visited. Most important buy was the detergent for hand-wash in a small nice tubes. For some reason, those are not available in Baltics, let alone in Finland. I bought three of them, as well as earplugs, sewing kit, magnesium tablets and eye drops. All these are so much cheaper here. Then to the supermarket: soup in a bag, instant spelt porrige, canned chicken and all goodies a cyclist wants to carry in her panniers.

The road to North was familiar. It is beautiful, but hilly. Last time around, I really struggled as I was having a flu and thus low energy. It was crazy, I should have rested. Now, the hills were the same, but climbing them was more joyful. It was sun, and hot, but I had stocked up with mineral water in Jeleniewo. There I had a chat with a lady who was interested in my travelling. Her two kids looked at me with big eyes as they heard I was travelling several weeks on my own.

Climbing was slow again, but I also made more stops. I enjoyed  great bulgur-hummus salad for a lunch at an old water mill. I felt how good energy it gave; a lot better than white bread and yoghurt that has lately been my daytime snack.

It was already almost five as I reached the three-lands corner. I had a pause for some fb-updating. Then, group of three Germans arrived and I chatted with one of them. They were going to the same direction as I, so I adviced them that there should be campsites right across the border in Lithuania. I adviced them with the directions, too.  I went to the nearby village to spend my last 20 zlotys. I could only spend 13,90 as I already had some food to carry.

Axtually, the prizes in Poland are quite the same as in Finland, just the currency is different and it’s one fourth.

Then, to Lithuania. There were 4 campsites, and I picked the last one. It was expensive for 9 Euros, but very good one.
