So, no ferry to Klaipeda. Instead, I got an idea to take a train to further east and follow the green velo route back to Suwalki and then to Lithuania and coast route. So, Bialystok.
I woke up early and got to the road in a good time. I rode through Gdansk, which was surprisingly easy. There’s bike lanes along the main roads throught the city. The old town required some navigation, but otherwise it was super-easy.
Along the coast through Sopot to Gdynia, there’s wide bike lane, separate from the pedestrians. And there’s a lot of folks. It was hot again, so all people were heading to the beach.
In Gdynia, I went to the train station to buy a ticket. I had already picked my train, the one that has no changes on the way. As I had left my bike a bit to the side, guardians came to me asking if it was my bike. They said there’s an alert, so they are suspicious about any luggage left unattended. They kindly guarded my bike as I bought the ticket. Then I went to a vege burger nearby and had a very tasty seitan burger.
And then it was time for a nearly seven hours train journey. I was already sweating and the train had no air conditioning.
I got to Bialystok at 23. It was dark and I got wrong side of the tracks. With the help of a local drunk, I pushed my stuff up the stairs and then down again. Got to the Hostel I had booked and finally to sleep.
